The famous Palio di Siena is held in Piazza del Campo in July and August of every year. In the same square it is possible to admire the Palazzo Sansedoni and the Palazzo Pubblico, as well as all the 102 meters of the Torre del Mangia rising above, dating back to the fourteenth century. You just have to move around a little bit to find San Gimignano and Volterra. On the green Tuscan hills, in the province of Siena, the city of San Gimignano, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, rises in all its splendor through the majestic presence of several medieval towers.
To the south-west of Florence, in the verdancy of the Pisan countryside, we encounter Volterra. Vampire movie-lovers will remember that some scenes from the famous movie Twilight were shot here. Volterra was one of the most powerful city-states of the Middle Ages. The historic center of Etruscan origins is known thanks to the presence of numerous workshops of artisans, who create wonderful objects through alabaster processing.
